32 illustrations of the epic poem, Dante's Inferno, in its entirety. Illustrated from August 2023 - December 2023, Dante’s Inferno began with the goal of creating an easily approachable and accessible exploration into the epic poem. Dante’s original text is dense, dancing from prose to prose with beauty and charm despite its somewhat horrific subject matter. I sought to celebrate this, through an illustrative nature with a unique charm for each circle. Figures anatomies are changed and warped allowing each circle a breath of individuality. Dante & Virgil too are distinctive, presented as white ethereal figures seemingly displaced like wraiths passing through hell. Though the journey centers on Dante, we too are encouraged to walk alongside him, exploring the nature of sin.
